Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Do I need to install anything on my server?

No installation is necessary; the software is web-based and runs in a browser. The only system requirement is a recent browser for macOS, Windows, or Chrome:

  • Firefox 52 or newer
  • Chrome 57 or newer
  • Safari 11 or newer
  • Edge 16 or newer

NOTE: Web-based Polyhedron Physics simulations will not run in mobile browsers. iOS Apps are available for all Polyhedron Physics+ labs. For details, and links to the iTunes Store, visit http://www.polyhedronlearning.com/see_apps_PolyhedronPhysics.html.

How long does my license last?

Each license is valid for 365 days from the date of purchase. The expiration date for each Simulation/Lab is shown on your My Account page. Student access will continue as long as the instructor whose Class Code they used to register has a current valid license or until the instructor Revokes access.

How do I access the Simulations/Labs?

After completing your purchase:

  1. Go to My Account
  2. Login with your username and password,
  3. Select Enter for any available Simulation/Lab.

How do students register?

NOTE: Each registered instructor is assigned a unique Class Code when they register on the Polyhedron Physics web site. Each of your students will need your Class Code to complete their Registration.

Direct your students to the Polyhedron Physics home page (https://polyhedronphysics.com), then to the Student Registration link at the top of the page. If the link isn’t visible, you can find it by widening your browser window or by selecting it from the MENU link at the top of the page.

Each of your students will be required to provide:

  • The Name of their School/Institution,
  • Their Course of study,
  • The assigned Class Code.

Each student will receive a unique, software-generated Student Code.

Your Instructor Dashboard will list:

  • Student names (in the order they register*)
  • Each student’s Course of study (helpful information for those who have students in more than one course or section)
  • Each student’s unique Student Code.

NOTE: *Your Instructor Dashboard lists student names in the order they register. The student roster can be copied and pasted into a spreadsheet for sorting.

What if I have different students each semester?

The Access column in the class roster includes a Revoke option, allowing you to remove students. Others can be registered as long as the number of students remains in compliance with the number of students you selected when ordering.

What if I have some of the same students in a subsequent semester?

Simply don’t Revoke their access. If you want to add removed students back on your Roster, you can enter their Student Codes (found on your Instructor Dashboard) or ask those students to enter your Class Code on their My Account page.

FOR POLYHEDRON PHYSICS SIMULATIONS:

Are specific lessons provided with each Simulation?

Instructions that explain how to manipulate the virtual apparatus are provided within each simulation. PDF versions of Instructions are in your Instructor Dashboard.

What is the purpose of the Pre-Lab Quizzes?

  • Via email with screen captures.
  • On paper

What are the post-lab Questions?

These are free-response questions located in the Lab Manuals. Students can respond online and then create screen captures to be submitted. Or, they can create their own documents to be submitted.
