Physical Optics and Nuclear Physics Bundle NEW!

Optical Bench and Lenses
Optical Bench and Lenses
Use an optical bench and lenses to form images of near and distant objects, and to investigate the relationship between the object distance, the image distance, and the focal length.
Wavelength of Light Apparatus
Use a diffraction grating, a slit, helium and mercury discharge tubes, an incandescent light bulb, and a meter stick mounted on an optical bench to determine the wavelengths of lines in spectra and the colors of visible light.
Half-Life of Barium-137 Apparatus
Use a sample of Strontium-90 to determine the operating voltage for a Geiger-Mueller tube, and then use the GM tube and a scaler-timer to determine the half-life of Barium-137.
Absorption of Radiation Apparatus
Use a sample of Strontium-90 to determine the operating voltage for a Geiger-Mueller tube, and then use the GM tube, a scaler-timer, samples of Cobalt-60 and Strontium-90, and lead and polyethylene absorbers to investigate the absorption of beta and gamma radiation.
